A bear and an elk and an old coyote
Went out for a walk one day
Said the bear to the elk and the old coyote
Won't you have a spot of tea
So they dropped in to visit a friend
On the way to Canmore-town
Said the bear to the elk and the old coyote
I know she won't let us down
Now, Milly the moose was loose as a goose
And fickle as she could be
Wouldn't you know, she was with an old crow
When her friends stopped in for tea
But she was the mostest, when it came to being a hostess
And so she laid out quite a spread
So, the bear and the elk and the old coyote
Drank tea 'til they thought they were dead
Now, the crow was insulted and so he consulted
With a magpie and a jay
In discussing the matter, there arose such a chatter
That the friends stopped off from their play
The bear looked around for some kind of a stone
That hopefully would settle the thing
But all he could find was a porcupine
That was dressed as neat as a pin
He reached out his paw and before he saw
He let out a terrible howl
That startled the elk and the old coyote
And even a passing owl
The moose got so scared that it raised up the hair
On the back of her overcoat
With a grunt and a wheeze, she got to her knees
And indignantly kicked them all out
The moral of the story
I am sad to say
Is that mooses ain't the kind of gal
With which one ought to play
