The accomplishments of the human race seem no longer relevant. Everything comes down to the faint glow of the electrics in my cane and the lethargic banshee of the wind. There was an act, or acts… a nightmare of drowning – I only remember running. I’ve been running for years and whatever I find within these whirling sands disappears again if it is not useful. The final insight I have, that burns brighter than the forgotten sun, is that there was a Monster – and that it was inside us as much as around us.
