Goodnight Day

Frozen in a still life of a day

Broken down and many miles away

Sleepy headlights paint black the way

Sunset melts this time and place

Paralysed by the falling snow

The rearview mirror shows me no road

And all I ever see

Is a figure of a man

In the shadow for company

Time to say goodnight to your woes

And to the love that you’re holding close

I’m on my way

Time to say goodnight to the end

Of a day that just won’t mend

Settle down, wishing goodnight day

Night speaks with its lips so cold

As sleep overtakes this desolate road

And all I ever dream of is a comforting hand

That protects and settles me off

I forever long to be seen by your eyes

Your forgiveness is all I need

Time to say goodnight to your woes

And to the love that you’re holding close

I’m on my way

Time to say goodnight to the end

Of a day that just won’t mend

Settle down, wishing goodnight day

I’ll soothe your woes

I’ll soothe your woes

I’ll soothe your woes
