I stepped outside this morning
With nowhere much to go
The breeze was light and easy
And everything moved slow
I took the street I seldom take
And followed where it led
The trees were swaying quietly
Beneath the sky ahead
What a lovely day to wander
With nowhere I must be
To follow every little road
And see what I might see
What a lovely day to wander
And let the hours unwind
The world seems just a little nicer
When I leave the clock behind
A little café on the corner
Had music drifting through
The tables filled the sidewalk
Like they always seem to do
I stopped beneath the trees awhile
And watched the afternoon
There wasn’t anything to hurry
And nowhere to be soon
What a lovely day to wander
With nowhere I must be
To follow every little road
And see what I might see
What a lovely day to wander
And let the hours unwind
The world seems just a little nicer
When I leave the clock behind
Perhaps I’ll turn the corner
Perhaps I’ll stay right here
The nicest thing about today
Is nothing’s very clear
What a lovely day to wander
While daylight lingers on
To take the long way everywhere
Before the day is gone
What a lovely day to wander
No reason and no plan
Sometimes a day is loveliest
When nothing is at hand
