Getting kind of old to still be believing in my myth
Suntanning by a drained pool, guess I’ll leave it as it is
Picking feathers off the pavement, swear they ought to mean something
Have they finally come to get me, or do they come from broken wings?
I can’t be fine if someone’s bleeding
They can’t be lies if one believes ‘em
I’m soaring through this life I’m grieving
I’m calling bluff on in-flux feelings
I’ll pour out my heart so that they’ll save it in a jar
Even if it falls through gilded cracks in boulevards
Still, I’ll proudly fight my case and claim the world I know is worth saving
Backed with aimless dedication and a lack of information
It’s not the message, it’s the medium
My palm reads fine, it’s just off season
My pulse still runs, man I’m just teething
I’m calling bluff on in-flux feelings
My mockingbird can only croak
My rosy looking glass came broke
But I’m pulling through on a mechanical bull
Cause my hands still shake and my heart’s half full
And the diamond days have turned to brass
But I can make it right if I turn on the flash
Tell the hearse and cart to turn around
Cause the whole world ain’t just this town
