Shadows promise truth at dusk
long versions of ourselves
They remind us humility
stretching beyond reach
They lengthen without noise
showing what daylight missed
Our grandeur is borrowed
our stature fragile
Wisdom is accepting shade
learning from smaller light
It does not erase us
but interprets us anew
At night they merge and rest
waiting for dawn to return
Shadows keep their vow:
to follow and to teach
