Hard To Say
I sit in silence more than I should
Swallowing words that don’t taste good
I rehearse the truth inside my mind
But it never makes it past the line
I nod and smile, I fake it well
But there’s a storm I never tell
They ask me how I’m really doing
I say, “I’m fine” and keep on moving
Why’s it so easy to lie?
But so hard to let the truth fly?
Why’s it hard to say what I feel?
When everything I hide is real
My chest is heavy, my voice is light
My heart is screaming through the night
I wish I knew the words to start
To pour the weight inside my heart
But I just smile and walk away
It’s always hard to say
Sometimes I think they wouldn’t care
Or maybe it’s just my own despair
Maybe I’m scared to fall apart
So I lock up every broken part
What if my truth makes them leave?
What if I’m too much to believe?
So I choose quiet over pain
And bottle tears like falling rain
I write my feelings into songs
But in real life, I get it wrong
Why’s it hard to say what I feel?
When everything I hide is real
My chest is heavy, my voice is light
My heart is screaming through the night
I wish I knew the words to start
To pour the weight inside my heart
But I just smile and walk away
It’s always hard to say
I want to be brave, I want to be free
To say the truth that’s killing me
But fear’s a wall I cannot climb
So I just say, “I’m doing fine…”
Why’s it hard to say what I feel?
When the silence is louder than steel
Every beat inside my chest
Is holding back what should confess
If love is truth, then hear me now
I want to speak, just don’t know how
So I just smile, and fade away...
It’s always hard to say
It’s always...
Hard...
To say...
