I shine my boots and comb my hair
Put on my suit, act like I'm squared
Mama says,"Boy, you look so blessed"
But I'm just here in my Sunday best
I'm singing hymns and shaking hands
Trying to live by the Good Book's plans
But when the preacher's done and the choir's gone
I'm cutting loose till the break of dawn
I tip my hat to the folks in town
Smile at the gossip, never frown
But behind closed doors, I must confess
I'm just as naughty as all the rest
I pray for grace, I pray for light
But I dance with trouble every night
Heaven knows I try my best
But I'm a wild one in my Sunday best
I'm singing hymns and shaking hands
Trying to live by the Good Book's plans
But when the preacher's done and the choir's gone
I'm cutting loose till the break of dawn
So here's to living good and wild
To every saint and every child
We're all just sinners, well-dressed and blessed
Just as naughty as all the rest, In our Sunday best
