Tommy Taylor ran away at 17
He stole his old man’s bike and hit the street
Followed the signs that were pointing east
And he rode it to the borderline
Tommy never had a plan but found his way
Tommy earned his colours on his pops birthday
He still rode his bike as a man now made
And shared a toast to him that night
Oh Tommy’s chasing the sun
Oh Tommy Taylor’s on the run
Tommy never met a man he couldn’t take
Word got round about the Taylor name
It spread west and travelled interstate
To a town where another resides
One June night Tommy was out for drinks
When he left he saw his parking space
Had no bike, just a letter with his name
It said son
Thanks for keeping it warm
But this is my ride
