A Jazz Walk in the Rain

I have known the taste of pressure

I have known the ache of doubt

I have smiled through inner chaos

While the light was fading out

But tonight the city’s breathing

In a rhythm calm and deep

And I feel my tired spirit

Finding somewhere safe to sleep

Not in perfect resolutions

Not in answers I can name

But in one more step through midnight

And the hush between the rain

So I take a jazz walk in the rain

Let the blue notes ease the pain

Every corner hums forgiveness

Every heartbeat learns again

And the night, though dark and endless

Holds me softly just the same

On this slow and silver avenue

I remember who I am

Saxophone like distant heartache

Piano like a healing hand

Brushing over all the places

Where I barely used to stand

And I realize being fragile

Is not failing, is not wrong

Even trembling souls can carry

A beautiful kind of strong
