Yeah…
Walking down these streets, can’t close my eyes,
Every corner’s got a story, every silence a cry.
I ain’t rich myself, I’m just tryna survive,
But damn, this system broken, man, it eats us alive.
Empty pockets, heavy hearts in the night,
Begging hands reaching just to hold on tight.
I wish I had enough, but I’m barely getting through,
We both trapped in this cycle, what we supposed to do?
It’s a war with the hunger, but nobody winning,
Rich keep stacking, while the poor just thinning.
Can’t turn away, but I can’t always give…
How we call this freedom when we struggle to live?
Man on the curb with a sign and a stare,
“Food for the hungry”—like nobody cares.
I dig in my wallet, got some lint and a dime,
But my rent overdue, bills eating my grind.
It hurts to walk past, feels cold to the soul,
Like we playing this script, but the roles outta control.
Politicians smile wide while they cut from the plate,
Meanwhile the line at the shelter can’t wait.
I see myself in them, man, it’s closer than it seems,
One paycheck missed, I could live their dreams.
They don’t want pity, they just want a fair start,
But the ladder broken down, can’t climb from the dark.
So I whisper to the wind, hope it carries the sound,
“Lord, lift the fallen, help the lost be found.”
Kids in the cold with their mama on the block,
Cart full of clothes but no key for a lock.
We speak on dreams but they vanish in smoke,
When a dollar decides if you bend or you choke.
System designed so we fight for the crumbs,
Some eating feasts, some chewing their thumbs.
I’m ashamed sometimes when I walk right past,
But I’m broke myself, tryna make mine last.
We need more hands building, less walls to divide,
More truth in the light, less greed in disguise.
Till the world wake up, I’ma keep my pen moving,
Voices for the lost, man, the beat keeps proving.
We ain’t gotta live where the broken stay stuck,
We can build a new road where there’s room for us.
Empty pockets, but the heart still giving,
One day we’ll rise, change the way we living.
Homeless ain’t hopeless, they just stuck in the fight,
Time to fix this system, time to do what’s right.
