Smell the earth after the rain
The whole world's been born again
The clouds let go and drift apart
The light comes back in fits and starts
The eaves count down their final drops
The sparrow shakes and never stops
Mercies fresh as morning dew
Every storm has passed on through
Petrichor and breaking sun
The washing of the world is done
Open windows, breathe it in
Every ending's a begin
The pavement steams a silver mist
The roses drip like they've been kissed
I step outside without a coat
The evening ends on one bright note
Petrichor and breaking sun
The washing of the world is done
Open windows, breathe it in
Every ending's a begin
He sets His bow against the grey
A promise at the end of day
Petrichor and breaking sun
The washing of the world is done
Open windows, breathe it in
Every ending's a begin
Smell the earth after the rain
The whole world's been born again
