I wake up face to face with someone I know

Same eyes same scars different soul

She smiles back like she’s harmless still

But I know that look I know the deal

She keeps her voice soft keeps her hands clean

Says all the right things plays the screen

But there’s a hunger she don’t deny

Every time she says I’m fine

I don’t blame her

I don’t fight it

I just see it clearer now

I don’t flinch

I don’t scare

I just stare

At the hyde in the mirror

She learned early how to split in two

One for them one for truth

One stays quiet one survives

One tells stories one tells lies

They praise the mask they never see

What it costs to look this clean

They think I’m calm they think I’m healed

They don’t know what I conceal
