Whispers in the Manger - The Cheeky Celt
In a stable still and humble on a cold December night
Lay a star above the rafters pouring down its silver light
In the hay the ox was resting soft and slow his breathing came
As he warmed the newborn baby with the glow of heaven's flame
There the donkey bowed his head low tired from the journey long
But he hummed a gentle rhythm like a low and tender song
He remembered dusty pathways carrying Mary to this place
And he dreamed of angels singing as he watched the infant's face
Oh the night was filled with wonder every creature seemed to know
In the manger lay the Savior and their hearts were all aglow
From the mighty to the meek ones all creation joined in praise
For the King of heaven slumbered in the hay on Christmas day
Little lambs with wool like starlight gathered close around the stall
Softly bleating in the shadows like a tender shepherd's call
They could feel the world was changing felt the peace that angels bring
As they nestled near the cradle of the newborn Shepherd King
High above two snow white doves sat perched along the wooden beam
Cooing gentle as a prayer song drifting softly through a dream
For they sensed the holy moment felt the hope of earth restored
As their wings tucked close in reverence for the sleeping Son of God
Oh the night was filled with wonder every creature seemed to know
In the manger lay the Savior and their hearts were all aglow
From the mighty to the meek ones all creation joined in praise
For the King of heaven slumbered in the hay on Christmas day
And the wind grew still around them not a sound disturbed the night
Every heartbeat felt the promise of the coming holy light
Even stars stood by in silence as if heaven paused to pray
For the Child who changed the ages had been born that blessed day
Oh the humble and the lowly were the first to see His face
Simple creatures in a stable filled that quiet sacred place
And they kept their silent vigil while the angels soared above
On the night the world was given God's own everlasting love
