When I was a kid, I wanted to sing
to stand in front of a crowd, and hear them singing with me.
When I was a teen, I took to the stage
but I stayed on the wings, and gave the spotlight away.
But who was it, inside of me, that said I shouldn’t play?
Where’d I put, the wild kid who wanted it her way?
Taking back the microphone, I’ve got something to say
There’s a sleeping muse in me and now it is awake
Following the light that leads to what I wanna make
I´m a star with a delay
And when I was grown, I stood in the crowd
and asked myself why, it’s not me making that sound.
And there on the floor, I decided to change
to Stop playing the fool, to get back onto the stage.
But who was it, inside of me, that said I shouldn’t play?
Where’d I put, the wild kid who wanted it her way?
Taking back the microphone, I’ve got something to say
There’s a sleeping muse in me, now it is awake
Following the light that leads to what I want to make
I´m a star with a delay
hey look at me now - I´m just a star
