Better Dad

I’m not gonna lie

I’m gonna try and try and try til I get it right

Wake up early, stay up late

Make every recital and every game

I’ll bait the hook, throw the ball

Be the hands that catch ‘em when the fall

I’m gonna try and try and try til I get it right

I could be Superman

Hang the moon

Do more than most ever do

Go the extra mile

Just to make ‘em smile

They can count on me for that

But no matter how good at it I get

I can’t beat the one I had

The one that God gave me

Yeah he’ll always be

The better dad

He was always there

When he was home

He was never too tired

Though he worked his fingers to the bone

To make sure we had nothing to worry about

He brought mama roses, he lit candles

He always handled the too hard to handle

So well

If I could be half of that myself

I’d be Superman

I’d hang the moon,

Do more than most ever do

Go the extra mile just to make ‘em smile

They can count on me for that

But no matter how good at it I get

I can’t beat the one I had

The one that God gave me

Yeah he’ll always be

The better dad

Yeah the better dad

I’ll forever be trying to fill his boots

But there’ll always be a little room

Yeah I could be Superman

Hang the moon

Do more than most ever do

Go the extra mile

Just to make ‘em smile

They can count on me for that

But no matter how good at it I get

I can’t beat the one I had

The one that God gave me

Yeah he’ll always be

The better dad

Yeah the better dad
