Old Father Time (2022 Season)

作词 : John Moore

作曲 : John Moore

Old Father Time

Old Father Time rings the bell

The old boys stir on death row

Is it time to go home?

Is it time to go home?

Summertime’s final throes

All run out, and they know

Is it time to go home?

Is it time to go home?

End of the season, one over to go

St John’s Wood mist gift-wrapping your bones

Ah the sun will soon be set

But there’s life in the old dog yet?

I’m just a chancer taking his chance

I’m just the Angel who fell

I’m just a tailender in at the crease

As Old Father Time rings the bell

Whatever comes, got to make runs

I am the last man in

Out and we lose, play for the draw

But I still believe we can win

I’m just a chancer taking his chance

I’m just the Angel who fell

I’m just a tailender in at the crease

As Old Father Time rings the bell

The bowler runs down, smashes the ground

The fielders are placed for the catch

It’s up in the air, a wing and a praye

We all dream of winning the match

I’m just a chancer taking his chance

I’m just the Angel who fell

I’m just the tailender in at the crease

As Old Father Time rings the bell

Caught on the boundary, starting to walk

Then over the rope he fell

I’m just a tailender riding his luck

As Old Father Time rings the bell

The egg and the bacon, the beer and the wine

The ghosts of the Long Room adorning the shrine

Behold Neville Cardus, this victory is thine!

As Old Father Time, as Old Father Time

I’m just a chancer taking his chance,

I’m just the Angel who fell

I’m just the tailender in at the crease

As Old Father Time rings the bell

I’m just a chancer taking his chance,

I’m just the Angel who fell

I’m just the tailender in at the crease

As Old Father Time rings the bell

As Old Father Time rings the bell

As Old Father Time rings the bell

Old Father Time, Old Father Time

Old father Time, Old Father Time
