Behind the tent
Flap she had listened with a
Weary smile years had worn
Thin all the hopes she once had
Carried
Body and time
Spent like a field long closed in
Winter how could joy
Grow from a place so old and dry
You spoke a
Word through the impossible silence
You called her
Forth from the ache of barren years
She found
Laughs in the power of
Your promise mercy made
Life where her womb had
Waited
What seemed too
Late was not hidden from Your
Seeing Lord for no wall
Stands before the strength of
Heaven
Then the days
Turned and the child of wonder
Came to hold and her heart
Knew You had changed her tears to song
You filled her
Arms with the fruit of Your faithfulness
You gave her
Joy that invited all to laugh
She stood
New in the warmth of Your
Fulfilling mercy brought
Spring where the frost had
Lingered
You are the
God who speaks beyond all limits
You can light
Hope in the oldest waiting soul
She will
Sing of the God who turns
Grief to gladness grace can make
Dawn out of years of
Night
