Wooden Floors - David Shultz
Kept to myself as a kid no one could hide quite like I did
Found my self in a room with an unmade bed
Traded in my shoes for boots of lead
Oh but I'm not stuck; I'm just moving slowly
Loosened my tie just like a man
Stood up as tall as I could stand
Found myself in a warehouse with rusted doors
Traded in my bed for wooden floors
But I'm not stuck; I'm just moving slowly
Now I'm putting birds in their cages
When I used to just let them go
Graphite marks on the pages
If I could translate these hieroglyphics into words
Then you would know
That I'm not that down
Yeah you'd know it's just hard for me
Catching up to pace with mistakes a race I'll never lead
Here I am gaining speed
Loosened my tie just like a man
Stood up as tall as I could stand
Found myself in a warehouse with rusted doors
Traded in my bed for wooden floors
But I'm not stuck; I'm just moving slowly
