The european football championship kick off friday in germany
I get allaid hohost the opener against scotland
Five goals to wine now being based in london
I'm rooting for england in this one
But i will also be cheering on the us next week
When it both hosts and competes in the copa aa
Roger bennett is the founder of the men in blazers media network
And he joins us now welcome it's great to be with him
Let's start with the eutage
The european championship
Which teams are the favorites
What story lines
Which players should we be following
But twtwenty
Twenty
Twenty four eurros
It's probably pound for pound
The most brilly ant forgiving international tournament in the world
Uh i'm in the big dogs
So with all the worst watching june and i the host nation of making their public believes again after a couple of years of darkness
Portugal deep strong have got the weortage of euroanon they were now though all be age eight thirty nine
But still a magnificent preining show pony in fronworld have reached the final of three real of ask four tournament
That they've been in in
And never attack ack kllion and backape is probably a ways transcendent force in the sport
Who only seems to rise to the wattatage
The crucicible of tournament play um
And then you got your england
And just always poisse between over confident victory over just xx essential dread
嗯
I keep hearing
You say the word belief are you like never stopping believing is that what i'm hearing a little england dantle
As a as a journey fan or as a ted lasso in efficient hope
I mean ultimately belief and delulutely hope and shattered hope
Those are the only fall of settings for any football fan and the ruthey they have have own memory making gloriory well lose on penalties in the final again
嗯嗯 Anyway
Let's turn to the copa america
Which the united states is hosting
Argentina is both the defending champion and the world cup champion
Argentina still led by superstar leleano messy is argentina favorred to repeat
And who are their bigggeththreat big big teamare a coompeto the azil
The'll ll be be on a prie from the vice like grip of defending champions or gental
Who is i think a tino messy the greatest thing to happen to miami
Since don johnson the dress shoes without socks
But i have to say
Say just as a totally biased human being low
And i have to say the united states will also be dreaming of being that final this might be a tiny bit confusing for your listenss
But dethis point my accient
But i have to say all listenness i'm as americamericas candy powers
And i love this naation
My way is the united states chaamerica on realistic is it to think that the us could land in that final this american football ans ans know the big teams win things a lot of men's team is a wonderful rich history
Um h is is grounded in yearning
So the united states it's the most talented player for player squad
We've ever been able to draw upon in on nation's history and the true challenge for this team
And to trable to take the field against a mighty foa popoerhouse
And take the field believing they can win
Believe the us along with canada
Mexica will be hosting the world up in two thousand twenty six
Six the feet a world cup is coppa aa sort of a dress rehearsal for them good lord
I mean this is a remarkable moment in the united states
For anyone who loves football soccer in the rise of it in on nation
We are entering a multious spspboth
The most continent is going to be used by the biggest teams
Both international and domestic to play the coper america
This summer
Next summer
The is an enormous tournament with the best club teams in the world playing in the fea club world curp on the mendside
And then after that the men's world cup
The scends upon our shores
We have the olympics in la shortly off
After that you know i moved here in in nineteen
Ninety four right before the united states uh who stedid that world curp
That was meant to turn america into a true football loving nation
As opposed to what it had been which was like true footing curr the sporortt's final frontier
But the growth has been instead of overnight
It's been slow and steady
What we really watchchfrom this cocper america all the way into the men's world curp
And then the olympics is the completion of that cycle
All the a trooferous passionate truly mad er a football fdom that lives here
And i think this fourney y into the twenty twenty six world curh will be the moment
When the rest of the world scissors is what we are
Which is just a normal football cccer loving nation ragger bennetworld curp
Ouner of the socccmedia network men in blazzers
