Cloud says to the rain
Why don't you stay?
We've been together
all through the day
Rain says
I've just grown heavy
one drop at a time
Sooner or later
a raindrop must fall
You can't hold the rain forever
you can't keep it in the sky
When the little drops grow heavy
there comes a time to let them fly
You can't hold the rain forever
but that doesn't mean goodbye
What falls down today
may rise in another sky
Cloud says
People start running
when you come down
Windows are closing
all over town
Rain starts laughing
Don't worry so much
Somebody's garden
is waiting for us
Down to the rooftop
down to the street
through all the branches
down to the wheat
Into the river
under the ground
Give me some time
I'll come back around
You can't hold the rain forever
some things have to fall
to give another place
new life after all
Cloud grows lighter
rain comes down
Leaves start shining
all over town
Sun warms the water
day after day
Little by little
it rises away
Cloud says
Now I understand
I wasn't losing you
to the thirsty land
Rain says
Nothing stays
in only one place
Sky into water
water to rain
Let it fall
let it flow
let it rise
We'll meet again
in another sky
