Joe Meek Will Inherit the Earth

She picked a good time to quit smoking

Yeah she thought she had it made

Made to pass the buck but first she sparked one up

Flashing her zippo like a blade

She left a protest in the city

With a conscience clear as glass

Absolution in a clear solution

Like a pickle in a jar

Singing"Charity, charity, charity, charity

Charity begins at home

Charity, charity, charity, charity

Charity begins at home

I rode on into the hinterland

Passed a rider following a lamb

And he waved at me and he said

Come and see the bodies sunbaking on the sand

And oh, that sound you're hearing

Coming from them locust trees

Deep down in a darkened clearing

A stranger's scheming against you and me

Singing charity, charity, charity, charity

Charity begins at home

Charity, charity, charity, charity

Charity begins at home

If you're wondering where it

Where it all went wrong

If you're wondering come and see

And then the moon turned red and waned away

Stars fell from the sky

Treetops crash and firestorms raged

Ash clouds burned our eyes

Singing"Charity begins at home

Charity begins at home

Charity begins at home

If you're wondering where it

Where it all went wrong

If you're wondering come and see
