Tennessee Courtin' Time - Opal Jean
The boys have on their Sunday clothes
The girls are wearing sating bows
The preacher's smiling 'cause he knows
It's tennessee courting time
They're all dressed up in colors bright
Flying higher than a kite
The front porch will be dark tonight
It's tennessee courting time
When they see a shooting star
The boys can kiss the missus
They'll be bringing in lightening bugs
To get them extra kisses
The old folks found some place to go
Maybe to a picture show
They'll leave the parlor lights down low
It's tennessee courting time
They're dusting off their dancing shoes
Strutting around like kangaroos
And busy spreading around the news
It's tennessee courting time
The boys are buzzing around like bees
Shining up their model T's
Tonight they're gonna fan the breeze
It's tennessee courting time
Johnny comes calling around tonight
To try his janey's cooking
He won't care if it's good or bad
Because she's so good looking
So milk the cows feed the hogs
And fill the wood box full of logs
Put out the fire and call the dogs
It's tennessee courting time
