Quiet Light After the Storm

There was a night I could not quiet

Every thought was like the sea

Waves of fear around my window

Breaking over all of me

I kept holding every burden

As if rest was not allowed

Wore a smile to hide the thunder

Buried softness in the crowd

But somewhere underneath the shaking

Under all the noise and strain

There was still a tender heartbeat

Calling me to breathe again

After the storm, there is a quiet light

A gentle fire that stays through the longest night

After the tears, after the falling apart

There is a softer sky returning to the heart

And I can feel love moving through the pain

Like the sun touching the earth after rain

After the storm, I am still here

And hope is drawing near
