Beyond the cedar woodland
A stone bell tower stood
Its shadow crossed the mossy ground
Where ancient oak trees grew
The bell had long been silent
Its voice no longer rang
Yet every evening through the leaves
A distant echo came
Around the old bell tower
The evening gathered slow
And through the branches overhead
The quiet breezes flowed
Around the old bell tower
The leaves began to turn
As though the stones remembered things
The years could never learn
Small flowers filled the hillside
Along the weathered wall
And swallows crossed the fading sky
Above the forest hall
No travelers came seeking
The stories hidden there
Yet sunlight lingered on the stone
As if it knew the air
Around the old bell tower
The evening gathered slow
And through the branches overhead
The quiet breezes flowed
Around the old bell tower
The leaves began to turn
As though the stones remembered things
The years could never learn
The bell remained in silence
