Can't string two words together
So I just stand there silently
Why do I allow myself
To get the best of me
I've written up a script
From which I think I ought to read
Worrying I won't
Make conversation perfectly
I'm feeling paralysed
Got nothing good to say
Asking myself Who on Earth
Would want me anyway
I'm never really lost for words
But they never leave my brain
If I keep my heart a secret
I'm gonna drive myself insane
I only had my fear to lose
And my confidence to gain
So why was it so difficult
To ask her for her name
It used to be so simple
Back when I was just a boy
But my spirit's been downtrodden
And my fortitude destroyed
Why have I been burdened
With this doubt It's so unfair
I feel something like a prophet
With a heavy cross to bear
I realise I truly
Only have myself to blame
If I try to fight this feeling

I know that man
Is both the sculptor and the stone
And I'll be incomplete
Before I've entered the unknown
Further down the line
I may be grateful for this pain
