Do you recall the air when we first met inside the space?

Your fragile breath, a tiny touch upon a blurry place

The very first cry that you made out to the open sky

Was like a song, a perfect ring that made me want to cry

Holding you close within my arms, I made a promise true

Checking your ten little fingers, ten little toes on your feet

Watching you wiggle and jiggle, making my slow heart beat

I never knew how deep a thrill could fill my lonely chest

Holding a baby so small, trying to give you the best

Scared I might hold you too tight, or make you lose your rest

Wishing to give you a nest, a warm and cozy chest

The honey-sweet smell of your head, a scent so soft and deep

Staring at your quiet face when you were fast asleep

We learned a miracle a day, a lesson pure and bright

A cup of milk, a little wave, a dream within the night

Three hundred sixty-five days of gold and precious light

One year with you, twelve months of a miracle view!

Laughter of spring, steps of the summer, winter so new!

Now comes the day of your birth, the very first candle to light
