the city's gone to sleep now
I'm driving through the streets now
the city glitters in the dark
the city glitters in the dark
your house fading to the background
when we thought we had it planned out
now as I turn into the dark
the city glitters where you are
will I look back to see
you waiting there for me
you waiting there for me yeah
but like a fading dream
you're further than I reach
your further than I reach, yeah
I let you go with each passing night
I let you go with each passing night
days turn into weeks now
but we're getting back our sleep now
you're moving on I'm moving south
through friends I'm asking how you are
but we move deeper in the years now
you've met her I finally breathe out
and as we're through hardest part
the city glitter seems so far
still I look back to see
you waiting there for me
you waiting there for me yeah
but like a fading dream
you're further than I reach
you're further than I reach, yeah
I let you go with each passing night
I let you go with each passing night
