Running on a Pilot Light

I’ve been running on a pilot light

Just a flicker but it keeps me going

Lately it’s been so hard to find

Every night I get a little low

But every day get a little bit closer to

Finding out it’s been here the whole time

Oh and when it’s dim

I know it’s temporary

Even when I’m close to empty

I’m still running on a pilot light

Fueling fire just to get me by

Hold my hands up and I close my eyes

To feel something, I keep running

Hope I make it through another year

Without burning in the atmosphere

And if I’m burning then at least I’m feeling something

I keep running, I’ll keep running

Sometimes I wake up with my eyes closed

Cause I’ve been living with a mind half open

Guess you really gotta see it, to believe it

I’ve been wearing thin, and I hope it’s temporary

Even when I’m close to empty

I spend my whole life running

To feel something
