Midnight Fever

Taxi doors slam

Lipstick on my glass

You pull me by the hand

Past the velvet rope

Too fast

Heartbeats in queue

Name on a stamp at my wrist

You say

"They’re all watching you"

I say

"Let ’em watch us like this"

I got that midnight fever

Burning up when you come near

Every touch cuts deeper

Every second disappears

Spinning like a record

Sweat and glitter on your skin

I got that midnight fever

And it’s kicking in again (oh)

Your laugh in my ear

Warm and a little unsteady

You trace on my shoulder

Like you’re writing

"You ready?"

Bathroom mirror blur

Smudged red

Crooked crown

You say

"Let’s never grow up"

I say

"Let’s never calm down"

I got that midnight fever

Burning up when you come near

Every touch cuts deeper

Every second disappears

Spinning like a record

Sweat and glitter on your skin

I got that midnight fever

And it’s kicking in again (yeah)

We’ll crash with the sunrise

But we’re legends ’til then

Your pulse in my palm

Starts racing again

If this is a sickness

I don’t want a cure

Say my name in the dark

Make me sure

Make me sure (hey!)

I got that midnight fever

Burning up when you come near

Every touch cuts deeper

Every second disappears

Spinning like a record

Sweat and glitter on your skin

I got that midnight fever

And it’s crawling through my veins again

I got that midnight fever

Say you feel it in your bones

If the night’s our healer

We don’t ever go back home

Spinning like a record

Take my hand and count to ten

I got that midnight fever

Let it take us

Take us

Take us again
