Smiles in the Sun, Tears in the Moonlight

In the morning, I wear my smile

Sunlight helps me fake it for a while

I laugh, I glow, I play my part

But nightfall knows my honest heart

They see the joy I choose to show

But never where the shadows go

But tears fall soft in the moonlight

One face for day, one soul for night

Photos full of summer skies

But no one hears the silent cries

My voice is calm, my eyes are dry

But stars can see when angels lie

I keep it safe behind my skin

A quiet ache I carry in

I joke, I dance, I act so free

But moonlight knows what’s left of me

The girl I hide so carefully
