While by the sheep we watched at night

While by the sheep we watched at night

Outside Bethlehem on the west bank shepherd's field

While by the sheep we watched at night

Dogs prowl in the shadows, jackals try to steal

While by the sheep we watched at night

We trembled in the presence of angels as they sang

Glory to God in the highest heaven

Peace on earth to those He is pleased

Born to you today, the Savior, Messiah

The good, good news of great, great joy

The good, good news of great, great joy

While by the sheep we watched at night

The angels left for Heaven with their words left in our ears

While by the sheep we watched at night

The news of the Messiah cast out all our fears

While by the sheep we watched at night

We savored the message of angels for they sang

Glory to God in the highest heaven

Peace on earth to those He is pleased

Born to you today, the Savior, Messiah

The good, good news of great, great joy

The good, good news of great, great joy

And we saw with our eyes the babe in the manger

And we spread what we heard from on high

Glory to God in the highest heaven

Peace on earth to those He is pleased

Born to you today, the Savior, Messiah

The good, good news of great, great joy

The good, good news of great, great joy

The good, good news of great, great joy
