One More Stop

Got on the one that stops at everything

Which was the point

Windows down the length of the car

Bag on my lap, screen face down

The good kind of empty in here

Cooler than anywhere else I could be

Everybody on board chose the slow one

That's the personality of this train

One more stop

One more after that

Windows open, sun going down

One more stop

Same voice reads out the same station

I could do the announcement myself by now

Rice fields, then a car park, then rice fields

The area's got a theme

Woman opposite asleep sitting perfectly upright

A skill I keep meaning to learn

Low sun coming in sideways

Orange bars across everyone's knees

One more stop

One more after that

Windows open, sun going down

One more stop

Kid at the window counting something

Loses it, starts over, happy about it

My stop went by while I was watching

Thought about it after

Stayed where I was

End of the line, then it comes back this way

Out there everyone's getting things done

Looks exhausting from here

One more stop

One more after that

Windows open, sun going down

One more stop

One more stop

Then I'll decide
