Sun breaks open the eastern sky,
Golden fire lifting high,
Feet on pavement, strong and sure,
Hearts awakened, pure and pure.
Voices hum like distant choirs,
Hope is breathing, climbing higher,
From the dust we lift our heads,
Following where courage leads.
Oh, can you hear that drum? (Hear that drum)
Calling every soul to come,
When the organ starts to play,
Chains begin to fall away.
Forward we rise — hallelujah sound!
Lift your voice, let it resound!
Through the storm, we’re heaven-bound,
Love will turn this world around!
Forward we rise — sing it loud!
Stand together, strong and proud!
With the choir and the crowd,
We rise in glory now!
Rain may fall upon the street,
Still we march on steady feet,
Every scar and every tear
Built the faith that brought us here.
From the silence we were saved,
From the doubt we once obeyed,
Now the brass begins to shine,
Like a holy battle line.
Feel that rhythm in your soul (In your soul)
Let the spirit take control,
When the voices harmonize,
You can see it in their eyes.
