Caught myself looking at a notebook

Written in my messy hand

Found some things I said about you

My mind just races in the darkness

And to the constant beat of time

I hear the ticking of a clock now

I see you dancing in the night

I hear the rain out on the street now

I see you slipping out of sight

And it’s like midnight rain

I guess sometimes it just seems easy

When you stare out through the frame

Looking out into the darkness

And you hear that midnight rain

Rain down on me
