Walking down 5th Avenue today
Just another morning on my way when something made me slow my pace
A sweet sound floating through this place
I watch as others start to stall
Their hurried footsteps seemed to fall into a gentler kind of time like water turning into wine
When the music plays the world slows down
When the music plays we'll lose our crown
When the music plays we're all the same
When the music plays can't explain the banker and the cleaning man stand shoulder to shoulder on the stand
What brings them here this morning
Now though neither speaks they share
Somehow a mother stops a child from running
Their rush forgotten
Something stunning how the notes float through the air
They can strangers stop and share
Music play
The world slows down
Music play
We lose our crown
Music play we're all the same
Music play can't explain everyday we pass each other by never knowing what connects inside until a simple melody shows us what we're meant to see
The player doesn't seem to mind the crowd that's gathering behind
His eyes are closed
His soul pours out teaching us what life's about
And though we'll soon all walk away a piece of this will always stay in quiet corners of our hearts where hurried time falls apart world slows down
When the music plays we lose our crown
When the music plays we're all the same Can't explain
