Steps of Hope

In the dim glow

Of streetlights on the night streets

I hold a fragile light

Close to me as I walk

Carrying feelings

That have nowhere to go

Drifting slowly… yet still

Chasing dreams

On this lonely road

Holding back my tears

I keep moving forward

Shadows at my feet trace the paths of my tears

Memories of someone laughing far away

Swaying deeply

And then I feel the wind

Blowing through my heart

No matter how strong the wind may blow

My heart will not break

I believe in my dreams

Tracing the path of the future

Carrying the scars of the past

And all the pain

I look up at the distant sky

Even if the way forward is unclear

I keep holding onto hope

Guided by the faint light

My steps… will never stop

Sometimes I pause

Looking back at the past

There are moments I want to cry

But still, I face forward

And move on
