sunlight on your skin

You were sitting by the window

Half asleep, hair tied up

I was trying not to stare

But I didn't try enough

Nothing special, just a Sunday

Nothing planned, nothing new

Funny how the light came through

And made me notice you

Sunlight on your skin

Falling where your hair begins

I could stay right here all afternoon

Just watching the light move

Sunlight on your face

Making time slow down a little

I don't know what changed today

But everything looks better with you

You were talking 'bout your weekend

I forgot what you were saying

You caught me looking at you

And started laughing

Maybe it's the way you smile

Maybe it's the afternoon

Maybe I've just never noticed

How good the light looks on you

Sunlight on your skin

Falling where your hair begins

I could stay right here all afternoon

Just watching the light move

Sunlight on your face

Making time slow down a little

I don't know what changed today

But everything looks better with you

If this moment has to end

Let it take its time

I don't need a photograph

I've already got it in my mind

Sunlight on your skin

Falling where your hair begins

I could stay right here all afternoon

Just watching the light move

Sunlight on your face

Golden dust across the room

Nothing really happened today

And somehow it was perfect with you
