Blamed it on the white clouds floating by

The summer sky was far too bright to see

Couldn't look into your eyes, right next to me

Stepping down upon the old stone stairs

Beyond the power lines, cumulus clouds in the air

The wind lifted up the hem of my skirt

For just a second, I forgot how to breathe

Cicada cries fading far away

A breeze slightly warmer than my own body heat

Then why, oh why, is my face so burning warm?

As the clouds drift away, as the light begins to shift
