My friend got lost on the Hudson;

only missin' for 20 days.

She went swimmin' up the Hudson;

we all thought she'd up and flew away.

Then I saw her on the B train,

waitin' at Broadway-Lafayette.

Caught a strained sorrow in her eye;

anyone could guess why.

Guess we've all seen better days.
