Halfway Genius

I draw the wings of birds in flight

Sketching dreams beneath the night

A canvas full, yet never done

So many starts, I finish none

They call me brilliant, say I'm wise

But all they see are half-tried skies

I chase the stars, then look away

A spark that burns, but won’t stay

Halfway genius, drifting soul

Master of none, but I still go

Blueprints faded in my mind

A restless heart, I can't confine

Tried to write it down, hold the line

But something pulls me every time

I built the skies, I mapped the seas

My hands were fast, but not at peace

A thousand thoughts I couldn't tame

Each one calling out my name

No masterpiece could hold me tight

No final stroke ever felt right

I carved the world, then let it be

Afraid of who I'd have to be
