Life Support - Simon Wiffen
If I close my eyes could I wake up
With it clear inside my head
Leave decisions still pending to stay in my bed
So the thoughts fist-fighting in my head could be still
If I can't be happy tomorrow then I never will
I come to terms with un-learning all I thought I knew
While my friends gather round me to help pull me through
With a pint and a hug and a smile to tell me
They'll be there whenever I need them to be
So let's raise a glass to an untrodden path
We'll gather our friends and go back to the start
I'll be the downtrodden victim
You'll play the part of my courage
My head and my heart
So let's light up the town or just sit here in silence
As long as we try to avoid using past-tense
You'll carry me through
But when you leave me my weakness is always what's left
When I lie in the darkness
There's nothing left to say
Your life support's pulling me through
To see another day
Where each crisis of conscience sees me calling you
So let's raise a glass to an untrodden path
We'll gather our friends and go back to the start
I'll be the downtrodden victim
You'll play the part of my courage
My head and my heart
To be there when I'm falling apart
So take me and hold me
And struggle with thesis to tell me that one day
I'll no longer feel this
Once more to the breach I need you to catch me
When all that I know just comes falling around me
So be there with arms open to put my faith in you's
To know that wherever I go that you'll come to
Help me with my load when I just feel too weak
And then stay there beside me 'til I fall asleep
So let's raise a glass to an untrodden path
We'll gather our friends and go back to the start
I'll be the downtrodden victim
You'll play the part of my courage
My head and my heart
So be there when I'm falling apart
As again we go back to the start
I'll be there when you're falling apart
