The Enchanted Oak

Winter came

like a soft evasive shade

gently blew

the sleep that brought me through

infinite tales

where I danced

like the slowly floating snow

like leaves, all in a glow

radiating around me

disappearing suddenly.

Reaching a spring

with my eyes and heart and wings

tasting joy

that opens every voice

like in a tide

then you came

and a throb stirred up the sky

aware of time as I

and I heard you callin' me

your voice full of urgency.

Then I saw that you were

beckoning to me

in your face, in your stare

there was jubilee

all around were shadows

moving soon and fast

darting in the meadow

and I was aghast.

All the trees, their branches

waving in the air

voices, chanting, laughter

echoing everywhere

then I saw you whispering

and you were an oak

all around the chanting

like a giant cloak.

See my branches, beautiful the leaves that sprouts

from my new frame.

and the oak tree that you became
