Try It for Love

Word on the street said you're back again

Hadn't seen you since it all went south

You and me we were the best of friends

That was then we don't talk much now

Took that road as far as it went

Been talkin' bout it since we were just kids

Sold our souls and now the money's spent

You make your wish and you get what you get

Can you remember the time before it all shattered

Us against the world and nothing really mattered

We tried it for money and we tried it for fame

We tried to do anything to make our name

Whoa it was never enough

We tried to be funny and we tried to be cool

We tried to play the part but we just played the fool

Whoa now that push comes to shove

Can we try it for love

Me of course I overplayed the role

I said some things that I shouldn't have said

You could tell I was headed for a crash

Now your words just ring in my head

Lost track of those who took a ride

Stood beside me night after night

Here I am just choking on my pride

Want a chance to make it all right

Just wanted to say I know you saw it coming

If you called it a night You know I'll come runnin'

We tried it for money and we tried it for fame

We tried to do anything to make our name

Whoa it was never enough

We tried to be funny and we tried to be cool

We tried to play the part but we just played the fool

Whoa now that push comes to shove

Can we try it for love

There were those who swore we'd be back

They're all too quick to remind us of that

You and me we couldn't fall in line

Punch their clock or do 9 to 5

The highways a lover who says"love never dies"

loses its temper and blackens your eye

Small town punks we had big time dreams

What the tv tells you is not what it seems

We tried it for money and we tried it for fame

We tried to do anything to make our name

Whoa it was never enough

We tried to be funny and we tried to be cool

We tried to play the part but we just played the fool

Whoa now that push comes to shove

Can we try it for love
