The 1982 version of his band features trumpeter

Henry Scott, Zane Massey on reeds, guitarist

Vernon Reid, and both Melvin Gibbs and

Bruce Johnson

on electric basses. The frenetic and intense ensembles

(essentially everyone solos at once) would not be classified as

relaxing background music.
