Tearjerker
you drop me off
the high board
at the deep end.
I'll hold my breath
and resist.
The panicked struggle,
the ruff and tumble,
and release.
And then the water stills,
and though my face is wet,
you have balanced me out.
Caretaker.
Back up the ladder.
Two steps and repeat.
To drown my sorrows
once more.
And though my face is wet,
you have balanced me out.
Tearjerker.
