March mornings in the sugarbush
Tapping trees with Dad
The sap would run like promises
Through every season we had
Easter sunrise, we'd gather close
Uncle Paul hid eggs and toys
The light would break through winter's cold
A hope we used to know
Why do the tables grow empty
When the ones we love go home?
Why does the laughter feel distant
Like a song we used to know?
We held these moments like treasures
Now they're scattered, worn, and frayed
But I'm reaching for the answer
In the faith that still remains
Fourth of July, the grill smoke rose
Fireworks painted the sky
We'd stay up late, Mom's face aglow
As grandkids said goodbye
Thanksgiving, all in one small room
Passing plates and love around
Christmas Eve at Grandma Lloyd's church
Candlelight and Silent Night
Why do the tables grow empty
When the ones we love go home?
Why does the laughter feel distant
Like a song we used to know?
We held these moments like treasures
Now they're scattered, worn, and frayed
But I'm reaching for the answer
In the faith that still remains
So let's set a table
Call them back again
Build it on the cornerstone
Of where our hope began
Not just for memory
But for what's ahead —
We'll gather in His name
And taste the living bread
The tables won't stay empty
Though the road has worn us thin
The laughter will come rising
Like a resurrection hymn
We'll hold these moments sacred
Build them new in Jesus' name
And gather for the Giver
Not just the gifts He gave
March will come, we'll tap those trees
July will paint the sky
We'll gather at one table
Where love will never die
We'll sing on Christmas Eve again
By His unchanging light
One family, one table
One faith that holds us tight
