A Small Moment Between Still Muscles

You pause like you forgot the plan

One paw lifted in the air

Nothing wrong, nothing lost

Just a moment hanging there

A small moment between still muscles

Time leans in to see

Something almost happens

Then it stays with me

You stretch and stop halfway

As if deciding where to go

The room waits with a smile

I don’t need to know

A small moment between still muscles

Light slips through the space

Not a joke, not a trick

Just a calm and gentle grace

A small moment between still muscles

Nothing big or bright

Just the kind of tiny thing

That makes the day feel right

You sit like that was always meant

As if nothing changed at all

The day keeps moving quietly

Around this little pause

Nothing moves, but something stays

In the way you wait

Not a thought, not a sign

Just time choosing to hesitate

A small moment between still muscles

Soft and easy slow

These are not the things we plan

But the ones we always know
