Okay

Good afternoon

Uh

Thank you for the nice annotation to be here

And to do my little talk on nftai and the end of art

Thank you also for the nice introduction

Just a hufew mobes to myself

I'm professor of a brand culture and branding

And i'm most of advice team of the joint institute at the faculty of branding at to city city and ningo

We

We just found that institute this year and uh are very happy about this international cooperation

And uh

Maybe we already discussed before this talk

How maybe today people need to think of their lives as being a little bit more not so strange bright doing many things in your life

Until you know what you are doing

And maybe be flexible enough to change your added truooand maybe my

My own biography displays this a little bit

I would describe myself as designer

Philossopher arhistorian and brand experts

So i did a lot of different studies and different things in my life

Um unstill

Until i ended up here

Or until i came to china seven years ago already to work in the field of design and branding

Um the title of uh this talk today is uh as you seen nftai and the end of art

I think in the chinese translation

It's as digitalizzation

I and and the end of art that's a little bit more right like digitalization ai and the end of art

I think that would be a talk for

For a few days

So this is a smaller topic

This is a very special or specific

A specific uh form of digitalization

That you of course or no already this is titleless of course also a little bit bus wordy right uh all of these things are kind of kind of words

That people can really relate to nft

Were in big hipe and twenty

Twenty two we will take a closer

Look at that ai is the big thing now and will be forever in this hup in the future

And the talk about the end of art is possibly also something that is uh pops up in the

In the theory of art

Every now and then again and uh

So this is my take on it

How we could maybe see the nft not so much ai but uh nft and this is maybe also ai in the context of the end of art

Um this talk i'm giving is part of a book that's going to come out uh in the spring next year

Hopefully it's called uh brand and moth so stay alerd will come out in grumand if you read german uh you can of course consume

I hope

I will I'm

I'm working on also having a chinese translation

So that's

That's a project

That we have

That we have done

Okay

Let's go

Start and

And begin in the end

A bit the inspiration forward for a thinking about nft and the end of art was by reading this book

Probably most people in china have read by now the three body problem that's very famous and china also out of china uh

And i think it's so it's really good book uh

Which everybody should read uh that's so many dimensions and so many uh levels on which you can read and understandit uh if you know that novel

You may know that the third novel cled deaths and so really of good death

Whats with the the protegonist buying a star right he

He's quite devastated

He has just earned a lot of money

Uh which he did not uh expect to get

And uh he has a girlfriend

He has not a girlfriend

Actually

He has somebody

He

He loves very much

But she probably won't love him

And

But he wants to make her present

And so he goes to this agency called stars our destiny

And uh and buys a star

The interesting

The interesting thing about buying the star

Of course is this thing is

Is very far away

So you cannot

You cannot put it into your pocket right

And and

And also um

Everybody can look at the star

Right

The star is not you bought it

But still

Still there

And everybody can

Can look at it

And

And also interestingly

We

We learn in the course of this

Of this novel

That the protegonist becomes very rich with buying this object uh because many hundred years later

There's uh

Uh the circumstances have changed

And his star becomes very important

Uh to the survival of the world

Actually

And he gets a lot of money for it

And i was thinking about this

And i was thinking like okay if lewish you he had written this not a little bit later

He may not have thought about a star to display owning something that he cannot put into your pocket

And that everybody can

Can look at themselves like after owning it

Still everybody can look at it in the very same way as you

And that may also spike in monetary words

He might have thought of an nft right

He might have have put his

His thoughts about not buying uh the imerial star

But buying an immaterial and ft and unfungigiable ken ken

We will we uuh look at that little little bit later

Ter today

What what achave this means

And if

If his protagonous would have bought one nft one digital artwork in uh eartwenty twenty one one

He may have been part of a

Of a market that jumped by twenty one thousand three hundred and fifty percent in in twenty

Twenty one

So that's i think the interesting thing is it's also an example for and an art of fact one you buy that everybody can look at that

You cannot even hang on your all all or put on in the pocket

And that also raised immense well

So that was my

My first idea into going thinking about nft

So as i said this marketplace one of the many

But that's the biggest marketplace for nft had a turnoover of um five billion dollars by selling immaterial digital odd as nft uh and those jumped by twenty one thousand three hundred and fifty percent in in twenty

Twenty twenty one

So this of course gives us a little bit to think what is what is nft art

Actually i mean we are all kind of uh within the art sphere

And we know about art works so far most of the artworks

We know of course

Somewhat materialize ed like on on wall

All scucottires movies may be thinks we can

We can take with us what is what is fft

What is this art form

And why do people's pay so much money for it and um

How does this actually relate to

To what art is so that

That was kind of my

My question here

And so the question is what is

What is the significance of nft art

What is the significance of this new digital art that came about in twenty twenty one has a big big uh

Big stance

And somewhat chook up an international market

And maybe also the the art scene

So my proposals here

A bradsivety drastic one

My idea when and looking at at nft art

Maybe nft art is really something uh you would call an epocal change and art

So my proposal is that the change that took place in the twentieth century continues with nft in that sense

That now not only mundane material

But also equally ordinary in material objects can be art

We'll look at it a little bit

The laatter

Of course the the um development of art and twentieth century made us acquainted to an attitude

That said well anything can be art

And maybe anything material actually can be art and with nf t we come to a point

Where maybe

Maybe anything in material

In material

Anything non material can be an art work

If we take a

Take a little step

Y we think

Think about

How did these thing come about in the twenty a century

How did art develop in the twenty eth century

We of course have to somewhat start with radimates and uh massage shump

Uh you probably all

You should all of course know this uh very famous art work by masserdy sharms

Which she exhibited in april nineand seventeen at the armory shore called fountain and the debate here

Of course was what can this be right

How can it be that

Something so normal

Something so monundane

As an as a fountain as an uh pisewan

You're no know can be be art

This um cause of course a lot of stir

And But

But it really wants was epoal for

For looking at in the twenty is century

Because basically from then on uh we have a development and art in which we yes

Anything can be an art work

Just as long as the artist uh decided

Decides it to proclaim it as an artist

And maybe also

But that's discucusion

It also has

Has to

With the arartwwk been displayed as an artwwork

But in any way

The development and art found that well any material thing can be an art work and artist not just reduce to those things that we normally kind of i identify art

Because

Because they have becomes difficult actually also when looking back what does normally actually mean to be an art work

So disharms early defenders and later later the art work as a whoil or this you that is solemly the artist decision from what material he creates a work

Industrially clasit to be an art work

You may know this very beautiful art work by you that boys for instant does wooder from nineteen sixty nine

Which is uh walks back and bus

And some slatches behind

Yes

The material is obviously something anybody can buy in the store and uh the uh fact that it is an artwwork is the composition and the decision um by the artist um for this

You don't need to specifically have drawwings um you need to be a painter or sculpture to do that the uh idea and the execution can be done with any any material

You may find the latest example about is so called ready made a simple

A simple art effect declared and being sold as an upwork as the ductate banana by mariit'll cut alalarm

I think a name

You don't have

Have to remember um think it's if you think of a rather boring ing twuh in a way does the same as maselshoshown did many years before it's kind of a reminder

Right if you see this

You

You're reminded uh h art still ks ks this

Yes yes

Any

Anything

Any material can be art so uh people were kind of surprised or pretended to be surprised

Well yes still in twenty nineteen

Nineteen the rule is

Is still in tk

That

That art works can any material can be an art work

And uh

Then we had actually not just one person

But at least two person

And

And media who ate the art work

And then the uh scandal of the is of course you can look it up in the internet

Like a student or a man eats one hundred and twenty thousand uh dollar art work in a way

That's of course not really a scandal

Because maybe the art work is not

Not that specific banana right but the the concept of the banana that is put on the wall by the artist esetera

So but this of course because these kind of scandals just illustrate that even to today it can be irritating for people

That anything can be an art work right so people maybe ybe irritated

But what this is art

This is just a banana with a duck tape

But no point is um the the art is kind of course can decide which material to use post his expression for his art work

And if he decide that the art work is a banana and duck tape

Then that's okay

That is how how the game of art is played nowadays this me a fact

That art is

Is not related to

To any specific object that we usually identifiy with a

With a work of art was

Was very uh inspiring for the philosopher

Arthdantal who was thinking about the relationship between what he does as a philosopher

And what art does and for him as a philosophher

Who was of course was very very very interesting to see that any normal thing can be an artwwork

Then uh what a very the

The art then right probably not in not necessarily one hundred percent in these things

The art itself may have to do a lot about what

What the concept of the art work is also in the dock taand another other we just saw

And if it's

If it's about the concept

Then maybe

Maybe

Maybe art and philosophy have a lot to do with each other right

Maybe maybe art t and philosophy are similar in a staticular way thinking about

About art

That he has that maybe

Maybe modern philosophy or modern art point out something about

About the the the of of art works

The being of art works is being not closely related to any specific material

But that it can be any material for

For dental is something that art really discovered

It's not something that artists did make up right that's an

That's an interesting

Distinction

If you come think of it

Ah when you

When you think about art

What does

What does art actually do right is art only about about the creativity of a person

That does something or arbitrarily deciding this is beautiful or this is interesting

And doing an art work or is art something that by doing something we discover something makes discoveries just like science or math for that matter

And in this way

I think denanto's position is to say art goes beyond mere creativity

And that sense aren't really discovers things about the world and about itself

And what deshan made in his

In his uh in his works discovered something about his

That is in the same category

As somebody discovering the wheel

Right

If somebody the the moment humanity discovered the wheel

We created something a wheelright

But

But the possibility

The reality of wheels was always there

It was yet to be discovered

That's also the way spespeak like naive

Some naive tribes have not yet to discovered the wheel

At one point they may discover the wheel

And that maybe all changed right

It's not totally arbitrary that we

We invent the wheel

We think like at one point we will invent the wheel

Because it's kind of a reality

That is there in the world

And at the same in the same way

Dental talks about art

Art is also kind of like an advt to

To be creative and while doing

So we can discover things that where they're already right

This this discovery needed to be done so in a way disharm did not invent the ready made

Or he invented the ready made

But with inventing the red mate

He found something that was always there

Or he pointed out something that was always there

Namely that the quality of art does not necessarily a hundred percent lie on the material art effect

But relies on the intellectual input of the artist

And in this way art and philosophy are closer

Then on one uh one may thing so dental implies that there there can be real discoveries made

Made by art

So also done by the disfirst sical uh h sof uof massi shump who would a be sick basic physical uh my friends not so good so in a way one made ready made ate

Well well in a way the the uh ready made ate

Or the the possibility that

That art uh is related to the

To the decision and concept of the artist has always existed

It always already existed in prior historitime so to speak

But uh h mmasadi shom uh was the first one out to really find it out

And to to to point it out in his own art works

This idea of uh of art make making discoveries about itself uh about about the world

Thus about itself uh was in itself also not invented by dental himself

But by by somebody in a way much greater emily

He occurred him pleated vehigo

Who uh who writes in his um in his lectures on aesthetics and eighty and thirty five

No matter how excellent we find the statues of grey goards

No matter how we see got father

Christ and marry so an estimately and perfectly portrade

It is no help we do not bow the need any longer

So hego points out that in the progress of art and culture

We have changed also our perspective upon art itself enhence have a

Have a different view upon art in its function in a certain point and human history or ggo names here the greek antique or uh

Or also he refers to uh

The christian religion art has played

Played a role in which we in which we ah thought uh in which we were so um emotionally um touched by art

That we thought it was something that that gave a certain truth to us

That we could not grasp with our minds

But only experience in contact with the art works that hagle says in his

In his lectures on on aesthetics and modern and light in times

These times are over right

Or we cannot only look at art this way anymore

And hence he calls this the end of art right that's where where determinminas the end of art comes from right in a way

Showing that

That we have a new discovery about what art is in itself right saying that art is nothing

That i has anything which is in its truth greater than what i congress with my mind is finding out something about art

That has always been that way

It was simply a mistake to think that this kind of higher truth which makes me bowl my kneif i think about religion art was there right

This is also something we found out about art

And art found out about itself

This is what

What is connected to this term the end of art

The end of art does mean

Does not mean that art did stop

Like that we

We stop making art and just just do other things

Now the end of artist is seeing that something and art has developed so far

That we have inside ght it

What it has been all along right

It was kind of a mistake to about w onis in front of

Of a sculpture at the same

A very similar uh observation is later made by

By a guycode vatbbeniamian

And it's very famous essay on the the queensback inside it as an noentable able of titiokyde the arperk in its age of technical reproduction

Where he says again

There's something like an end of art happening right

We cannot look at art anymore as being something that grasp us in a very emotional way

That is orratic that we think is original

Orratic that we have a very emotional tie to modern art

Uh has something else that can tell us something about the world like a scientist right and his the

The art that he mostly thinks about he is to film

The film has a very different way of of dealing with his objects than classical paintings

Which want to grasp us in a more emotional way

Which original

Which need a certain place

And which do not have this documentary feature of what what the film has so also what i'abenya mean in his idea of progress in art

That talks about the end of art

And

And a little later

Fifty years later

Um

Um arsaddontal looks at art

And says okay the end of art we have already reached again another end of art

This end of art uh related to um the art works of uh massady shmp

And maybe andy warhaul and other modern conceptual artists tell us that art and philosophy y have been become very alilight

And his slogan there is it little matters

Whether art is philosophy and acof philosophy is art and thought

So if you think about modern conceptual art

We think about well it maybe very much like sopopy right

Because the concept that the philosopof that the artist sts for his

His art work very bet be alike at the same way that uh

That philosophers think about that topic and vice versor

Maybe art can also tell us about philosophy as being very maybe

Maybe closer to art than to science

Maybe an example here which are very much like as an in art work yuse of course at the help bunhood in stoopguard

Which is uh in yhagle saying that the fear of being wrong in itself right starting if you start thinking and you are

You have

You have a fear as a philosophto be be wrong

Ction is like that's you that's the mistake

Right the mistake is not making is mistake

The mistake is having being fearful of a mistake

And right this is

This is an interesting example for conconceptual twwork which

Which functions as something you see in the world

Right which tells us also something about the aesthetics of typography of of situation in the world

It's steura and which is also very conception

Of course which is also part of philosophy itself again

And this is is playing between

Between art and philosophy

So this mamay be be good example for it little matter of that art

Art phphoosopy and action of philosophy is art in third as i said before all these notions about the end of art

That maybe hagle has with this idea that we do not bow our need in front of the art twroups anymore that we are not forced to that

And at all of of ittananiamian saying that in the in its age of technical reproduction

The artwk has lost its aura or arthodental saying that philosophan art became very much alike

This does not mean the end of art

This does not mean that we have millions of people still and rightly so right that's not a wrong thing to do to bowder down in front of their religious statues

Right that's religious practice fair enough

Right we still have many many many oractic art works

And we love orratic art works

Of course it would be wrong to say that you cannot paint or appreciate art after about atapiiaman anymore as it as it is as it is wrong to think about art as being only conceptual after dissharmed and dental

I would rather propose that all these series or thinking about about the end of arch

Tells us something about the eches of art

The end of art sst the end of a figure right when art develops it comes to its eches right

It finds out something about art by crossing a border

Which does not to mean what art is beforehand right does does not art

It should not foster aa position in which you think just because

Because of the shoong

We cannot paint anyanymore because

Because so higger

We should not uh appreciate uh artistic displays of of dialties right but interestingly in its own development

Art can find out something about this edges

And that's what i also then find about an intereart about nft or digital

Digital art

Okay

So much

Mamade a long preload about about the end of of art

So let's take a closer look at uh at nft art

And what excelent after that uh think about which end of art

We may have the way may have reached by looking at at nft art

So maybe you could

Could summarize ze the ananal artithing so because

因为the audience 人may need some help

Nft

So i have to say sorry to stifend

Because in china

We still not legally recognize the uh legitimation of nft in the chinese territory

So we we we

We are also trying very hard to invent similar things

Like

Like novity

So we ququits digitalizzzation of artworks

Okay I'm

I'm very well aware of that

And this is of course

Not to promote anything

That's not legal or oh

Anything in china

Even though we

We can look

Look at these digital original art works

And see what's the significance of of it

That's what ii find interesting

Invt

I don't know how much are in any way

How do digital original function nft wants to give an answer

Or gives an answer to

How can i provide sort of audentification of originality for a digital assets

We have different digital assets like maybe gaming and music and function and also an art right

We can have different digital assets with different meanings

And these digital assets have a kind of audentification in the internet

So what's happening is that

An nft is the relationship of a digital asset of a digital thing with a certificate

Which is then being stored on a thing called the blokchain

Blokchain technology

Uh

I don't know how worth titime you are in

In these digital thing

Basically

It's an encrypted way

Let's leave at this way in encrypted way of storing data in the internet

That cannot be copied right

It's a way on which you can identify digital original on this blokchain

This goes by aa process of of independent verification in a blokchain

And as you know on blokchain digital currencies which are not legal in china

But that we have locin in industrial park

In in 相high

So the government is very much in the like

In the investing in the things

Ok Yeah Um

So of course

The problem of uh digital originals is

Is being addressed everywhere different digital currencies are in different sphere

So uh you cannot buy bit coin in in china

But china has its own digital currency and things

All of these uh rely on blokchain

So how does

How does

Art and nft work

One example would be you have an original art work

Maybe a painting you made of a little kitty

Right you have

You kdten me here

And then you make a digital version of it

You make a photo

A scan or something like that as a digital asset

You go with it in the western hemisphere

To a

To a marketplace for

For nfts in which you can buy certificate for your digital asset

What happens

Here is your digital picture is being stored as a special place on the server of your marketplace of open opensea

And it is related to a certificate

That is being stored on the blokchain the interesting thing

And here we go to the

To the example in the beginning with the star

What is protected on the blokchain

Is this certificate that you own it is not like you can take your digital original

And put it in your pocket

Just put it an image on a war

And put it in your pocket and habit for yourself

Anybody can still look at the same picture

Anybody can make a screen shot of this picture in the very same quality

The difference between your ownership of your nf t and the ownership of somebody

Ouse who made a picture of the thing on a smartphone or computer

Is merely that you have a certificate saying it's mine

It's very much

Like having a certificate pointing at a star

And saying well you can also look at the star

And you can also make a picture of the star

But i have a certificate that it's mine

That's

That's is the difference

And that's

That's quite interesting

I think in in context of art

Art and ownership

This is the case

I call this art and nft most nft look like this

They do not have a materialialied art work in the beginning are being digitally created right and being in this digital circle of being on a marketplace for

For nft being connected to a

To a certificate

Which is and being uh dored on the blokchain

This is most nfts works

And i think when we talk about nft art

We talk about these things and not about these things right

When we talk about nft art

We actually do not talk about digital representations of material art

That is

That are then stored in the

In the internet for um

Maybe giving a certificate of a painting

Which make sense right you can have anft certificate for an existing art work

Most nft art works or nft art works polly digital right you create

You create a digital art work

That is then being a linked to an nft certificate on the block chain

So first definition of of nft art

Nftr is not materialized that

That is audentificated by nft so nft art is a digitart

That has been auauentificated by nft so nft digital and ftr has never been material in the first place mahave summarize

In china

We have already a lot of policies to support citizens to like to own the heritage es all the uh expensive painting

We also focucuon on certificate not on the original material artwworks

So i think it's you have already made it clear ar very clear ar to us now

Yeah Yeah

And but if as i said when we talk about nft art

We make we don't mean that kind of certificates

We mean art that digitally ally created

And then hh being being stored with a certificate on the block chain

To

To have a better better understanding what i mean with nft ards

And maybe go back and see what really is mamay be be kind of end of art or development and art that we can see in nft

We can take a closer look five

Five different uh nft projects

That were best

Best sellers just twenty

Twenty two just actually after um the big uh nft hide uh

Which is um uh a project called cupto pmps

A project called mebeproprotecalled art blocks loot and the board of yachth club

Maybe the the most famous nftr at least in the

In the western hemisphere is uh the so called um crypt pununks

Crypt pungks have been released in the july of and june of twenty

Twenty twenty seventeen and addition of ten thousand

Twenty four by twenty four

A pixel created digital art works

Theylike uh these eight bit art ripponks know from computer games uh

And they are generated with artificial intelligence

So here comes

Comes in the part of ai

Also uh in my

In my little talk that these very early uh and very successful and ft have been also created ated genererated ai ccrippppupupongs have by ah as sales volume of two point six three billion dollars

Which is of course a lot of money

Uuh cripped upuponhave have have been developed

Actually by tom engineers of this

Of this group lover labs

And obviously what one can can see

Here is that is not so much about the let's say

Artistic quality of these thing

Do you look at the the gypof funcs

We may

May probably not be so surprised by its artistic quality rather by by the mass of the individual al images

Indiinditen ties

And also the myeffect that they are very early on the market

Right

This is one one of the very first famous nft projects

Which gained a lot of attention and a lot of people buying in so it

It led to the fact

The best selling ccyptto pangs now go by twenty three million dollars

Twenty three million dollars for certificate that refers to a digital image

Which is by no means different than the one you see on the screen

There the owner of this

Of this nft has in his uh uwalwallet by opensea a twenty four pixel by twenty four pixel representation of this very thing in its material

It's no different

Which is quite interesting in itself if we look look at the the second project

That i want to to show here in this context of nft

This is called mepeits by the same comp by the same studio

Called lava lapse

The interesting thing here is that already in its development

Nft have seen some some professionalization

Let's say um this company who uh who created the uh

The cliypal pangs introduced the second project called mebits

Which is graphically let's a little bit more demanding than then the crypt punangs it's elex three d figures

And as you can see they can also do some digital movements

Right there animated it's seta but uh

As you can imagine these were uh popular for a short time

But not for a long time

Because maybe they could not gain this drive of the first comer on the market

This first ten thousand um nfs uh being released by

By lava lab

The search very interesting

Artistically interesting project

I want to present

Here is called art block

The platform art blocks opened in november

Twenty

Twenty

Twenty

And that was particularly tailored for the condition of the blokchain in contrast two most nft art works

That have these digital art work and the certificate

Which is then stestored on the block chain um in art blocks

The information for the art work itself is also stored on the blokchain

There's actually not just the information about the digital image and its certain place

Where it's stored in the internet for art blocks

The information stored on the blokchain

Also has the code for making these art works

Right you can the the code on the blokchain

Itself is being used or can be used for creating those art works

Which is kind of cool and an an interesting digital thing

So this art works for instance he densa number six thirty uh one is uh is stored not just at the place

Um on the marketplace

But also the information for creating this art work and a program cled led processing is stoght within the block chain

So if you

If you um take this this code

You can create this art work ks in the

In the form

In the computer language processing

If we look at at art blocks

And also on this uh at this first first uh project prenament artistoric of you one may say well

It's tilistic conservation uum meeting technological of on guard

Right if we

If we look at the style of the pictures

Like these eight bid tortraits of

Of kookal pangs

Or also these abstract paintings uh that we find in art blocks

It's not very um astonishing

It's a little underwhelming actually from the the aesthetics

It does not seem like

Like it's very innovative in a way

It's actually quite

Quite conservative

However this conservativism meets the the digital avanka that is possible to uh

To create them as nft

Or even in the case of art blocks to

To relay the code to the

To the uh

To the code of the

Of the blokchain itself

But that already tells of something about this art works

That maybe they are really not just about the material part

There are also not so much about the s statics

They're about certain technological possibilities that go with this

This technology

Theyybe i would just susummarize ing a words

Ok

Please right for example

This is an art work by

By soliof it and of nineteen

Sixteen i am

We have seen things like that before before not not these

These twworks

The art locks aesthetically present something that's very new

And one may even say that because it's only digital the impression i can have from the art twks

嗯is rather limited right

It's compared dly limited as pared to to to a painting

Obviously it has other merits and the merits gowith being

Being the bblochacham saying es es for for this very interesting

I find project called loode

Which reminds me personally of artists like laurensener or uh like concrete poetry of the nineteen sixsixty or h like nfts

Which uh

Which only contain certain birds

This is war hammer

Sudden

Lethther armmananent totown woosesech of rage sudden n thther boots

Lindgloves

Ves dragon raar bothring different

Different words describing different objects

Which spcan can be used builbuild aa fantasuh role playworld

Which is also right quite

Quite interesting

Because it

It takes this in this uh

This point of let's say interchangeability to another level

Of course

Anybody can simply write down this words or its tionality through the artwork itself of the art grok that i can see it doesn't place so much of the role rather its ownership ad through the blokchain last but not least in this collection is the project

The board aped yachclub which also has not leed a lot of attention

Um i think this is probably really the most famous uh nft project

Um so far

I don't have the number

How many million uh dollars were raised with it in the end

But uh that doesn't place so much of a all for us looking at it

This is aa project of ten thousand portraadits of board abes so called board ght abs that

That are connected to owning a membership and the so called board a yacht club

Which also gives you some some benefit in the uh

In the offtime world

Also it goes with which is not

Even which is not uh necessarily the case for

For all other nft

It goes with trademark rights for the owner of it

So if you buy on a board app

You allowed to use

Use it as your tratrademarto to do with it

To use it for your own creation of wealth

The interesting thing about the board ath yacht club is

This is a really very professionally designed world that they made

They made uh professional uh proency like uh build up of the board a brand with a whole world that they build around it for people to to get sucked into that for people to to get attententional of it

For people a get

Get interested in that so actually

Tually

They

They created this

This

This world

The board a yacht club

Where these these a hang around

And they are kind of board

And they want to do things

They do a lot for storytelling to to make this art a project compelling for buyers

Here

Here can really see that

This is business brand building

This is product building

This is a way of building a product in the internet space

Ace an arwk product which is not so different than building up any other brand

So he comes of course my kind of brand interest in the two that one

What's ever board a yarth club is a very professional branded art brand that uh that lives in the nft space

Okay

So a few few words already about how these these nft come to light

And what is

What is maybe a significance of it

And why maybe projects like crypal puns and a bb a abs are one time thing

I think there are the the success like crypal puns

And also bought apr club is very much connected to early adopters of generative puns

When cryptoppuns and when board abes came on the market generated a ee itself had not yet guone mainstream

It was not mainstream

That anybody today can generate digitographics in a vast amount on their own computers in very little time

So the very defact that we have ten thousand clipped upon or twenty thousand

Cryptal upongs ten ten thousand

Uuh bought ababes is that they're already ready created by

By using a generative a eee e could spspout different verversion of them with different um attributes

And this was

This was kind of new today gengenerate tive ai has gone very much mainstream

So that you can use this very computer here to generate um a vast amount of digital graphics with a a finger snap

So today

I would say uh maybe a project like uh crypto puns or board at yaccrob would not be so successful anymore

Because it has been so monday for everybody to crecreuh h own digital al avatar

So this

This is this are like some digital versions of me

Maybe that i created on this laptop in one hour so times have have changed in that respect very much

But before that of course

If

If one wants find

Find one explanation for the early success uh projects like

Like ricpto puns or bought a yac club is really i think they could

They could already uh use a eye as a tool

Which really kind of a mass production

A whoar lesk over drive production of

Of simple art works which now is so monday

That anybody can do it that's really

Really one one interesting point a within this horse thing so

But the greater western actually is as i said to the in the beginning to which of end of art

May uh nft art lead us

Which which end of which edge of the art have we reached here after looking at at this um five projects

I think my proposed definition of nft art is a little bit different than in the beginning

So as we sat in the beginning

Nft art is not materialized art that is authentificated nf tr

So that that i thought that we be counted out

Also i would say nf t art is also not a digital art that exists for its own purpose

And then has been authentificated by nfs right nf tr or the nf tr that i described

Or the nf tr that describes something like the edge of art is not art that works like this

Oh

I make a

Make a digital letal

And then i want to somewhat have a

Have an originality certificate for it

And so i get an nnft

Of course that that exists like thousand times that they that exists

But that's not the avonk art

Let's say or the the specific nftr that really displays a new to category of art for this

I would say nft art is digital art

Responding to the possibility of image generation technology and the nft blockchain right that's really the nft art is a specific art

That react ts the possipossibilities of the medium and

And for uusnew new of the up to uuh generative art technology like crypopps and what app yake club

But also also the art block project right works with

With a high tech uh idea

A high tech solution to an answer or in response to to the possibility of the technology

Right so if you look at the scheme again

Our diagrament again well actually in the beginning of the block chain

As a as a course right as a problem that is there

And that motivates artists to do digital art works

Right which then again they

They get uh did refeferences for ntt certitificates again and then go to the block chain

But i think this is significant to be want to understand how from artheoretical perspective

We should look at at nftr swedian ands with the new medium

Okay

Let me look at libit clocerer of the production of nft r

We may also find some other interesting thing that may be

May be significant for nf t art

So nf tr seems to be rather identified with groups or agencies as opposed to the individual artists

It's interesting to see that these very famous and um and successful nft projects are mostly actually none of them are one person things right

It's not the one artists still in his or her art uh

And

And that

That's promoted like this rather agencies

The individual designer does not play too much overall actually in fact and in the case of uh brought abes there have been i think also a little bit fights with the designer who designed the first ape

Who does not really get too much mentioning for her work uh and really has to step step ide de and to the company

That does that

And if the art seems to be produced and marketed like a consumer brand and nft really realize on its storytelling

All of these things

I think to a certain extent

And that's

That's the beauty of it in is in a way

When we look at at art at the edge of art

All of these assumptions also to a certain extent apply to other artworks

Right also if you look at conventional art

Yeah

We have

We have a single artist

But isn't that an artist who's promoted by his gallery

And so on

And so on

Don't we have also art groups and seteara isn't art also marketed uh in a certain way

And yes

Of course art uh realized strongly on some kind of storytelling

Which of course is much

Very much

More 呃

Pushed and more dressed in the a storytelling of

Of nft art

Nft art existand series which is interesting to see like uh there's hardly nftr which is just one original mostly as we have seen there a lot of them

And i think that that really has a point

Because since we cannot really make out the single material thing

It becomes more of a thing

That the value of one and ft artwwork does not rely on its singular aesthetic quality

But rather there evaluated in the le relationship to the other ones

Within the series right being special

Within the series becomes the aesthetic criterium

And not so much the single aesthetic of the

Of the single peace

Wghts of this early er project clipper punks

The most expensive clipper punk happen to be a super raar alialien pk quality of this product or of of this art work reliance on relationship to the other ones in the series

But just just by at it

You could could not really see its aesthetic value that only comes from

Knowing that there are a lot of other ones

And he is in a

In a certain way specific

Because he's the only uh one of only nine so called aliens

And he wears a bandaria a which is also super rea and uh

And makes him valuable in the art

In the ice of the people who have want to buy this es and h

Again and thinking about art at the

At the extra of art can maybe tell us something about art in a

In broada sense one can also say

Oh Yeah

This is

This is

This is kind of like driven to the extreme something that we yeah can also maybe say about a lot of other art works right if you

You have a very rare painting by a

By vanggoh or by by famfamous h artist

You would say what be vowed yet in a special way emotionally but also financially

Because it's rare

So this aspect that other art groups may also have is also here to driven to an extreme in a way to put this on a

On a steep thesis

One may say well in an in an extreme way aren't value and monetary value you become almost interchangeable right

And that that may be probably really the the end of art

That nft art can point to or drive to

So if until has said about conceptual art that a little matter us whether art is philosophy and action of philosopherous art and thought nftr may teach us about the interchangeability of art and monetary value

One may say that the end of art that may be cross by nf tr every once in a while would be to say it is little matters

Whether your money material lines is as an art work or the art stays as material as a material as an entry in your checking account

Again this is of course

Not manant in a way that the art ts is over

Or we cannot appreciate any aesthetic value in nft art

Or

Or any other thing and in other arworwork is just something that nft art may

May push us through

May show us well

Here you have an art

Which

Which exemplifies the possibility of making inequation between um h etary value and artistic value

Okay

So far for my little twitter force uh through uh of of uh hff and hhi hope you

You enjoyit

And you could uh get a little it

It yyself out

Out of it

Thank you at the end

You just conclude de by sathat mamaybe lifety has point point a new possibility for art

We tried a lot of times for many times we find a new directions

But now at this point inefty has possibility

And it's almost the real that we can go to this direction the nifty art

Yeah

I guess what is really the new thing about nft art

What is the extreme uh

What is what

What did nft show or or find out about art

Also then one may say what actually it is

It is the real differences that it

It takes

It takes the the material art works so much out of the equation

And also the idea of an intrinsic aesthetic quality of the art twwork

Okay

One may always argue that

But at least

It's the extremely reso so that it arguthe idear of the mere transaction of buying and selling art works with a new extreme salt in a way

It shows us that like this is of course

Also meanded as a provocative tage as he says on that level art is really um

It doesn't matter

If it

If it materializes or not even if

If i have any privileged account to it

If i have any privileged uh access to it

It's merely ah they build up of a story and the selling of something

Where's the product itself goes so ar ar far ar beind ind that's just as basically that in your electure have already said said that durucian has already anticipated this kind of future

Yeah

Already anticipated this kind of of h dishubut didirecbut

But anything can be an twork

Anything material

But

But it still ready to be something

Yeah

So we have already realized a juruicians uh like imagination or anticipation

Sure But

But i think like

Like we have left distrum a little bit

Or i think a twenty twenty a century concept art is about playing with disharwn right or even twenty twenty nineteen putting a banana with a ductaand that's dishonb

And all all of the other

All all the other uh hh means ans of concepceptual art

Of course there are also conceptual artists like lawren's winner who play a lot with

With the idea of the art work art like for him and artwwork is basically this contract that he makes and then

But it

It means and can be materialized like for laansweina at the end of the day

It's important that the artwork is being materialized some place for for nf taa in aaa very big scale

Not just one

But as a as a rule as an

It is that no one doesn't have to be to realized that

So what's the significance of it

Well is the significance of it is that you can have ownership

So it's kind of the significant tayer reduced the importance of the material existence of an artwork

I think the kind fufew of uh even for the contemporary art so nifty art would a push to the boundary of the year

Hi don't know

I think

Actually

I think like the projects

Oh

Let's put it this way

How many artists were actually successful with readinemade not too many right

I mean like dishan put out the his urano

And i mecame a very famous artists

Because of that and one may say okay artists over we all

But it didn't work like that people like art has been

Been produced in uh in a conservative let's say in traditional way ever more than that

But dissm just showed us some extreme

And i think the same goals with maybe grypal pund and board ght pes they

They showed us this

But maybe this is not the future of art

This is just one extreme

That shows us something

But i don't think that the future of art

Uh of modern art lines in projects like

Like those in a way

They are already historical in a way

That's

That's what i meant to say by by or mental show by by ai being so verssatile and being so monday in today

Like you can create your own cripp of pmpat at h on a sunday afternoon in a way

It's not possible at the moment of came out

So of course digitalization ation h of course play a big role and art in the future

We are and so on

But ii have the strong conviction that tratradiart art has a fufuture painting and scupturing

Especially on the background of of this new new art forms

Do don't have 呃呃

Question

So what maybe you should go aa little bit with conversation about your a lecture yeah

So when i wrad your materials mail to me days ago

I was really interested in the uh end of art part

So i would like you to like to make it more clearer about uh new possibilities

After the uh end of art after dental

After the hego

So were dending in two thousand and twenty three

Could you please just make a little bit more clearer

What is the art in twenty two thousand and twenty three being for us after the end of art

So after

After we are facing a lot of ai generations from their in internet

This

This talk of end of art

Which maybe as i would propose

Should probably call the edge of art uuboyes border order art is

Is an in i think in one day

It's a very academic discussion right h academics philosophlike us uh like to discusters and uh of course uh in a certain way

If we think about or he go

Or if we think about beniymin

And or if think about about about anto

It is of course always talking about well from

From methouloc right for mutos some logos right

It's always always us uh well uh

Uh there was some some kind of emotional capturing with an art or basbasbasically uh ah ah emotion scotto far with us

And now we have a step of self awareness in which we can have a more intellectual view upon art right

So that's whataagoes is like i

We

We don't have to be emotionally overcome by looking at the arthworks by believing that there's a god or something in it right

We now we know that

We can know things

But we

We don't have to be about our needs still acknowleding the facts of religion

But

But an an an enlighted way

Then i mean speaks about the the uh loss of um of ora of the outword

But by a more scientific view on it in nutshell and uh like ordantal

It becomes eer text in a way art becomes text and my proposal here with the nf t one may say well okay

Also there are the the emotional part of the artwwork because reader we do use

And i think it is actually in the medium and um

And it becomes something like hh the rationality in a away

Which of course uh it's is uh one one ate may see even little step down and towards the philosophical relevance of art

Of course in a way

The effort that

That people who play with a new medium is really to

To also play with it right one one may also say that one future of art

Which

Which then is still like future ture conceptual art is of of se se

How do i act

Act as as an art work to the new medium

Right which is which really shows us something and which is which goes beyond the monetary thing

That you have already defined what a future artist would be that you are testing the new technologies

It's about how new media so

So it will depends on how the new media so the longod ying

It's not about how you write ite manmanfesto

So it's how you try

Try react act with the new media so i was expect or maybe they can also write a manifesto to to it

But in the way

It's the avongard of today uh is of course

Somewhat dealing with

With new technology

That's shaping our world

That's of course there we are not at the end

That we are definitely at the beginning of what's possible

And of course the possibilities of

Of new towards and also of uautertification in the internet are very new

And

And artist today the ovangun needs to react to that

But i would

I would really understand that this discussion is about the avongothat's

That's as if

If you would

Would ask me what

What kind of art do we need

I think that the artworks in a very classical sense of the world are maybe needed more than ever

And i would ego always i think because it definitely would be a great contribution to the uh arcusin china ina very uh popular about what discusst would a do in the like facing the nft art

So our lexiccould be uh great contribution

Yeah

Let me just just make this point is as ii say we should not be

We should not become

I think we should not become alonhadestic radical who do not appreciate the quality of arts and the art as as the place where i can get

And they are like with this skin

And i did art phd to say like like art is a place in which i can and can find relief from all these super fast and digital and rational and seall things in looking and enjoenjoenjoying art twks

So art at the end of the art is

Is always end of the art

The art that

That preserves the emotional qualities that we see in artworks

So artists can the heel people how to build kind of space for their relief

And he 's kind

Kind a traina ina h

Whether he is selling the artworks through book brokchain is the secondary

But the examplorthing is that in this kind of uh quick speed

And artists can uh lead other people to to do uh to try to build uh a new spspace the relief that this can help them to to do uh

Maybe don't teach them anything

Um i want

Even

Even if did not teteanyanything

Yes

Not taught anything

Give them the possibility

Yeah

Possibility to contemplate

Give them the possibility to enjoy yeah

And to see beauty yeah

Art

Art has

Has of course many size

But definitely these these two sides on one side as upon gud being in the midst of

And being uh exploring being the fastness and the the

The fast development of what is there with was everything that's

That's attend

And on the other side giving the are feeling

Our need for feeling at home

Um Yeah

So i would do a little uh summary and and 的end and electure okay good

而这个we are very

呃

Productive

这个真的的是i'm really interested in all content in snake

Heh Your

Your yingard words gone
