High Life

In the Caribbean town where the sun shines bright

I'm watching yachts moor up what a lovely sight

Their sails catching wind under skies so blue

I wonder what it's like to chase dreams anew

Fast cars racing by gold chains that gleam

Gilded mansions in the distance living the dream

With endless cash flow every night's a feast

Eating out with a view while I'm stuck in the East

Oh to be free like the waves in a race

Where the high life flows there's a different pace

But I watch from the quay sipping rum from a glass

Wondering if this fantasy is all it could amass

But wait what's this drama on that deck so fine

A couple arguing loud, losing track of time

He's screaming and she's crying under the setting sun

In a world of riches they're not having fun

That yacht it may shine yeah it's certainly grand

But the love they once had now slips through their hands

They got all the money but where's the affection

In this island life I find my connection

Oh, to be free like the waves in a race

Where the high life flows, there's a different pace

But I watch from the quay sipping rum from a glass

Realizing my own life isn't such a contrast

So I turn from the scene let the sun kiss my face

Head back to the bar my favorite place

Bartender knows my name pours a shot for me

Another taste of rum as I feel so free

In this humble island roots run deep like the sea

Where laughter fills the air and we dance with glee

The wind in my hair the rhythm in my soul

I don't need those yachts here I am whole

Yeah the yachts might be bright but love's a gold crown

And in this little town that's where I'm renowned

I might not have riches but I have my pride

With friends all around me I enjoy the ride
